Surprise Visit to LHS - Melissa Etheridge, Class of 1979

What a great and motivational day...LHS had the pleasure of welcoming back one of its own, Melissa Etheridge, Class of 1979. While in town for a community event, she stopped by to see her high school, which she hadn't been to since 1994. We gave her the royal treatment, with a tour of the Performing Arts Center, a special performance by Power & Life, and some down home conversation. Melissa shared memories of her time at LHS, recalling the start of Power & Life, as well as some of her musical endeavors in the greater Kansas City area. She spoke candidly with the Power & Life students, telling them, "Leavenworth is a great place to be 'from.' Do what you love and follow your passion. If you do what you love, it'll all work out." Melissa's honest, compassionate, and incredibly encouraging approach was eaten up by students and staff, alike. It was an awesome day to be a Pioneer!

Details for "150 Community Celebration/Birthday Bash"

Pioneer friends and family, let us put some final touches on the plans for this weekend's "150 Community Celebration/Birthday Bash." It is sure to be a good time for all! First, due to the number of students and staff members involved in other school-related activities (City-wide Clean-up, ACT, JROTC event), LHS has canceled Saturday morning's "Walk/Run 150." But, no worries, there is still plenty of fun to be had that evening - RAIN or SHINE! Plans are set for the "150 Community Celebration/Birthday Bash" to be held in the south parking lot of the LHS campus, this Saturday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. and lasting until approximately 6:30 p.m. If weather looks to be an issue, we will move all festivities into the LHS main gym. Either way, we will all enjoy many talents and special presentations around this 150 year celebration. No need to bring a lawn chair...we'll have plenty of seating for everyone!
